Survivors of Head and Neck Cancer are at risk for a variety of treatment effects. Ear-related effects include hearing loss, tinnitus (noises in your ears or head), and vertigo or dizziness. While many factors contribute to the development of these issues, chemotherapy, and radiation may increase your risk.

Even if you don’t have difficulty hearing during your day-to-day activities, you may have a hearing loss that interferes with your ability to communicate with your care providers. When you are managing a complicated condition like cancer, it is critical for you to hear and understand each aspect of your care.

UPMC’s Head & Neck Cancer Survivorship team includes audiology services. We identify hearing loss that may interfere with communication, provide immediate solutions during your appointments, and connect survivors to our audiology clinics for care of hearing loss, tinnitus, and other ear-related disorders.
