What is the Survivorship Clinic?
During a single clinic appointment, you can see a team of clinicians from various specialties, all focused on the complex needs of patients with head and neck cancer. Each visit is tailored to address your unique symptoms. Our survivorship healthcare providers include head and neck surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, hearing assistants, swallowing specialists (speech-language pathologists), physical therapists, dietitians, and dentists. Before your visit, you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire about the symptoms you are experiencing. The team will review your answers before your visit to help us decide what healthcare providers you need to see during the visit.
What to Expect?
During your visit, your team will review your medical and cancer treatment history, discuss your symptoms and needs, and check for any signs of cancer. We will provide you with education, therapies, services, and referrals when necessary. In addition, we will develop a personalized survivorship care plan designed to help you live well beyond your cancer.
How Long Will My Survivorship Appointment Take?
Appointments can last from 30 minutes to two hours, depending on your symptoms and needs. Most survivorship clinic visits require only a single co-pay, but additional co-pays may be necessary for separate testing during the visit. Moreover, if you have not met your annual deductible and/or have co-insurance responsibilities, you may receive a bill for this appointment.
