Allison Tobey, MD

Dr. Tobey is a pediatric fellowship trained otolaryngologist, head and neck surgeon at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is certified in General Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.     

Dr. Tobey's clinical and research interests include pediatric endoscopic and open repair of airway anomalies, complex aerodigestive disorders, pediatric head and neck tumors, pediatric salivary gland disorders as well as general pediatric disorders of ears, nose and throat. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and presents nationally on health disparities and outcomes related to pediatric airway and aerodigestive disorders. Dr. Tobey is very involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and UPMC Children's Hospital. She is also very involved in improving quality of care of and caregiver education for pediatric patients with complex aerodigestive disorders.

Research Interests

Dr. Tobey's current research interests involve ear, nose, and throat diseases in children, pediatric airway, feeding, and voice disorders, improving quality of life and quality of care in patients with complex medical needs, and pediatric head and neck tumors. She is a co-investigator of several multi-center trials investigating upper-airway stimulation therapy for treatment of refractory obstructive sleep apnea in children with Down syndrome and young adults.
